A. SCHEME FOR TECHNOLOGY UPGRADATION / ESTABLISHMENT / EXPANSION / MODERNIZATION OF FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES.
(i) COVERAGE
Food Processing Industries in fruits and vegetables / milk products, meat, poultry, fishery, cereal / other consumer food products, oil seeds products, rice milling, flour milling, pulse processing and such other agro horticultural sectors including food flavors and colours, spices, coconut, mushroom, hops and oleoresins are eligible for grant under the scheme. Further the activities of aerated water, packaged drinking water and soft drinks are not considered for financial assistance under the scheme.
(ii) ELIGIBLE ORGANISATION
The eligible promoters include all implementing agencies / organizations such as Govt. /PSUs /Joint Sector / NGOs /Cooperatives/ Private Sectors/ individuals.
(iii) QUANTUM OF ASSISTANCE
Financial assistance in the form of grant to the extent of 25% of the cost of plant & machinery and technical civil works subject to a maximum of Rs.50.00 lacs in general areas and 33.33% subject to maximum of Rs.75.00 lacs in difficult areas (J & K, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, North Eastern States, Andaman & Nikobar Islands, Lakshadweep and integrated Tribal Development projects areas). Only New plant & machinery shall be eligible. Technical civil works include civil works for functional purposes and shall exclude civil works that are not related to the production or processing. Erection, Installation and commissioning and freight charges and also Electrical Installations are excluded from eligible items of plant and machinery.
B. SCHEME FOR COLD CHAIN, VALUE ADDITION AND PRESERVATION
INFRASTRUCTURE (FOR NON – HORTICULTURAL PRODUCTS)
(i) ELIGIBLE SECTORS
The Integrated Cold Chain Value Addition and Preservation Infrastructure Projects pertaining to Non-Horticultural Products such as:
(a) Dairy – All milk and milk products, etc.
(b) Meat – Red meat, white meat, beef, pork, lamb, mutton, poultry, bovine meat and processed products thereof, etc.
(c) Aquaculture and marine products like Seafood, Fish, Prawns and their processed products, etc.
(ii) ELIGIBLE ORGANIZATIONS
The assistance will be available to the individual Entrepreneurs, Partnership firms, Societies, Co-operatives, Companies and Corporation etc. However the person/agency/group having received grants from any other State/Central Govt. etc. for the similar type of items/project components shall not be entitled to avail assistance again on those items/project components.
(iii) ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS
(a) The net worth of the applicant should be more than 1.5 times of the grant applied for.
(b) Project Appraisal Report from Bank/Financial Institution. Appraisal must contain all the components for which grant is sought.
(c) Date of commercial production should not be prior to the date of submission of application.
(d) No second proposal from the same applicant / company or from applicant/ company who has obtained assistance from MFPI earlier.
C. SCHEME FOR HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT (HRD) - CREATION OF INFRASTRUCTURE FACILITIES FOR RUNNING DEGREE / DIPLOMA COURSE IN FOOD PROCESSING TECHNOLOGY.
(i) ELIGIBLE ORGANIZATIONS –
All recognized Universities/Institutions/Colleges, whether in Govt. Sector or private sector offering duly recognized degree / diploma in Food Technology or Food Science or Food Processing
(ii) PATTERN OF ASSISTANCE
Maximum of Rs. 75 lakh for creation of infrastructure facilities for running Degree / Diploma course in food processing technology.
D. MINISTRY OF FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES’ SCHEME FOR SETTING UP / UPGRADATION OF QUALITY CONTROL / FOOD TESTING LABORATORY THROUGH INDIAN COUNCIL FOR AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH (ICAR)
(i) ELIGIBLE ORGANIZATIONS
Central / State Govt. and its organizations / universities as also private sector organizations are eligible under the scheme for grant-in-aid.
(ii) PATTERN OF ASSISTANCE
In case of Central / State Govt. and its organizations / universities-
Grant equal to entire cost of laboratory equipments in addition 25% of the cost of technical civil works to house the equipments and furniture and fixtures associated with the equipments for general areas and 33% for difficult areas.
In other cases –
Grant equal to 50% of cost of laboratory equipments and 25% of the cost of technical civil works to house the equipments and furniture and fixtures associated with the equipments for general areas and 70% of cost of lab equipments and 33% of technical civil works for difficult areas.
